Second Chance for Smokey

Smokey the cat’s story begins with exploring in his home’s garage where he fell into an open container of motor oil. His owner rushed him to Tender Touch Animal Hospital in Kingston. Tender Touch and PAWS collaborate often so the staff there knew that PAWS has a Veterinary Assistance for Owned Animals program. They contacted PAWS and we covered the expenses to save Smokey.

“PAWS Vet Assistance Program helps fur babies stay with their families and receive the medical care needed. Many times, owners would have to surrender their beloved pet due to medical costs. Tender Touch is happy to work with PAWS hand and hand keeping pets happy, healthy, and with their family.”

Smokey may not agree that this is a happy ending; he went through a two hour bath to clean the toxic motor oil from his fur and had his feet trauma repaired. With a few medications, he will be good as new.
Because our community is so generous, PAWS was able to write happy endings for many pets like Smokey in 2016.
