PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap is a grass roots volunteer-based nonprofit animal welfare organization. By providing a wide range of direct services, it strives to nurture and sustain the bond of companionship between pets and their people.
Through its many innovative programs, PAWS helps pets and their families enjoy their lives together. PAWS advocates, educates and promotes responsible pet ownership and the reduction of pet overpopulation through its direct client services, community participation, volunteer training and event sponsorship.
PAWS is dedicated to the special relationships between pets and their companions for the health and well-being of both. For over 40 years PAWS has been a vibrant part of the community, serving the people and pets on Bainbridge Island and in North Kitsap.
In order to protect the health of our community, our volunteers and our staff, we are implementing the following changes at PAWS, effective Tuesday, March 17: – Adoption Centers will be closed to the public for visitation. If you are interested in adopting a cat, please email and our staff will help coordinate an adoption…
By providing Veterinary Financial Assistance, Senior Support and a Pet Food Bank, PAWS provides the resources needed to keep cherished pets at home. Sometimes being able to have a pet in your life and needing to surrender that beloved companion to a shelter can be a very close call for a family who is suddenly living on the brink. Pet retention programs like these take the pressure off overcrowded shelters and keep families together.
Whether through our collaborative Right Dog-Right Home Matchmaking Program, our innovative PALS Senior Placement Program, our free county-wide KitsapLostPets.org Lost and Found Service, or our highly regarded Adoption Program that rescues at-risk cats and kittens from high kill shelter areas, PAWS is working every day to nurture and sustain the bond of companionship between pets and their people.
From our Good Samaritan Fund for injured found pets, to supporting community caregivers with feral cats, to providing a Guardian Angel Fund for the humane euthanasia of suffering animals whose owners cannot afford this final act of kindness and serving as a pet education resource, PAWS is there for the most vulnerable in our community thanks to the support we receive from so many like-minded individuals right here at home.

People overlook older animals sometimes, but it is quite a blessing to take home an animal, who knows himself, has manners, and a solid personality. I'm very greatful to PAWS for accepting him from his previous owner, who was unable to keep him so that we had that time to find each other.
