Saving Bruno

It happened in an instant. What started out as a nice evening walk after dinner with their five dogs turned into a nightmare for Wendy & Craig. They saw a flash of fur come from behind a tree and then heard the terror filled screams of Bruno, their chi-weenie rescue dog, who was struggling to free himself from the coyote’s jaws.

Thanks to the quick reactions of Craig and their pitbull mix, the coyote dropped Bruno and ran away. They knew instantly that Bruno was critically injured, and they rushed him to Ridgetop Animal Hospital. The news was devastating; the coyote’s tooth had punctured the interior lining next to Bruno’s lung, and the hole needed to be repaired immediately to prevent his lung from collapsing.

This unexpected expense was not something they had planned on, and a new sense of panic set in. The staff at Ridgetop Animal Hospital told Wendy & Craig to contact PAWS for help, and we were able to use our Veterinary Financial Assistance Fund to help defray some of the cost of the surgery.

In the past year, PAWS has assisted 118 families with $11,483.70 in veterinary financial assistance grants. Without your support, these family pets might not receive the veterinary care they so desperately needed. Bruno has recovered beautifully, and Wendy & Craig are eternally grateful to PAWS and our generous supporters for providing financial help when it was needed most.
